Missouri High School Football Huddle

The
Missouri State High School Activities Association has announced new football district assignments for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
The first allowable practice day this year will be Monday, August 9th, with the first games to be played Friday, August 27th. The Show-Me Bowl will be played at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis November 26th and 27th.
Here are the changes announced by the MSHSAA...
In 8-man football, there are two new programs with Tarkio and Northwest (Hughesville) joining the division. Worth County and Northeast Nodaway have formed a cooperative sponsorship, allowing NNHS students to play football for the first time.
Changing to Class 1 for 2010 and 2011 is former Class 2 school Windsor. Entering into a cooperative sponsorship are Cole Camp and Green Ridge, while King City and Pattonsburg also entered into a cooperative sponsorship.
In Class 2, the following schools move up from Class 1: Adrian, Penney, St. Paul Lutheran and Sarcoxie, while Lutheran (St. Peters) and Herculaneum moved down from Class 3. Barat Academy, Lift for Life Academy, Christian and Hollister are all new programs. McAuley Catholic is hosting a cooperative sponsorship with College Heights Christian.
In Class 3, five schools move up from Class 2, including: Orchard Farm, Southern Boone, Wright City, Maryville and Van Horn (Independence). Moving down to Class 3 from Class 4 are Westport, Center (Kansas City) and Central (Kansas City), while Northeast Law & Public Service also joins Class 3 from Class 5. Three new programs begin play in Class 3, including Imagin Renaissance Academy, Confluence Prep Academy and East (Kansas City).
Moving up to Class 4 from Class 3 are nine schools: Smithville, Sullivan, Perryville, St. Francis Borgia, Savannah, Potosi, Soldan International Studies, Moberly and Mexico. Moving down to Class 4 from Class 5 are Roosevelt and Central (Cape Cirardeau).
In Class 5, a total of seven schools move up from Class 4: Willard, Staley, Smith-Cotton, Poplar Bluff, Normandy, Hickman Mills District High School and Branson. Due to the consolidation of Wellston and Normandy, the Vikings move up to Class 5. With the consolidation of Hickman Mills and Ruskin, the Hickman Mills District High School will also be a member of Class 5. Riverview Gardens and Lee’s Summit move down from Class 6.
Three programs move up to Class 6 from Class 5 with Pattonville, Raymore-Peculiar and Eureka slated to compete in MSHSAA’s largest classification.
